During a deep tissue massage, a firmer pressure is used and more specific attention is paid to areas of pain, tightness  and/or discomfort.

During a Swedish/Holistic  massage, a lighter pressure is used and the massage can be energising or relaxing depending on the tempo and types of techniques used.
